Stock Market :- Understanding The Basics
1. Market capitalization: The total value of a company's outstanding shares. It is calculated by multiplying the number of outstanding shares by the current stock price.
2. Dividend: A payment made by a company to its shareholders, usually in cash or stock, as a portion of its profits
3. Stock exchange: A marketplace where stocks are traded. The most well-known stock exchanges include the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Nasdaq, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE)
4. Index: A benchmark that measures the performance of a group of stocks or the stock market as a whole. Examples include NIFTY 50, SENSEX etc.
5. Bull market: A market in which stock prices are rising, and investor confidence is high.
6. Bear market: A market in which stock prices are falling, and investor confidence is low.
7. IPO: An initial public offering (IPO) is the first time a company's stock is offered to the public.
8. Broker: A licensed professional who buys and sells stocks on behalf of clients. Example :- Angle Broking, Upstox, etc.
9. Portfolio: A collection of stocks, bonds, and other investments held by an individual, ( a group of stock in which you are a share holder )
10.Volume: The number of shares traded in a day, week, or other period of time.
